Eye Exercises



Position : Any comfortable meditative posture or sitting on a chair


Up and Down or Vertical Movement of Eyeballs :

  • Gently close your eyes and relax for a while with normal breathing. Open the the eyes with a few blinks.
  • Gently move your eyeballs up-down, up-down.... movements for 8-10 rounds (count mentally). 
  • Move the eyeballs continuously and smoothly. Avoid jerky movements.
  • Keep the head straight. Practice at your own pace.

 Right and Left or Horizontal Movement of Eyeballs :

  • Gently close your eyes and relax for a while with normal breathing. Open the the eyes with a few blinks.
  • Gently move your eyeballs right-left, right-left..... movements for 8-10 rounds (count Mentally).
  • Rub the palms against each other to generate heat, form a cup shape of palm and gently rest the palms on the eyes.
  • Do not touch the eyelids with the palms directly. Relax the eye muscles.
  • Feel the warmth and darkness in the eyes.
  • After relaxing for a while, gently bring your hands down.
  • Feel the cooling sensation around the eyeballs. Do not open the eyes immediately, relax for few seconds.
 Diagonal Movement of Eyeballs (2 Directions) :

  • Gently close your eyes and relax for a while with normal breathing. Open the the eyes with a few blinks.
  • Gently move your eyeballs extreme right-up, extreme left-down...movements for 8-10 rounds (count mentally).
  • Rub the palms against each other to generate heat, for a cup shape of palm and gently rest the palms on the eyes.
  • Give press and release palming. While inhaling, press the palm and while exhaling release the pressure.
  • Do not press the eyeballs with the palms directly. Relax the eye muscles.
  • After relaxing for a while, gently bring your hands down.
  • Feel the cooling sensation around the eyeballs. Do not open the eyes immediately, relax for few seconds.
 Diagonal Movement in the Opposite Directions :

  • Gently close your eyes and relax for a while with normal breathing. Open the the eyes with a few blinks.
  • Gently move your eyeballs extreme left-up, extreme right-down...movements for 8-10 rounds (count mentally).
  • Rub the palms against each other to generate heat, for a cup shape of palm and gently rest the palms on the eyes.
  • Give press and release palming. While inhaling, press the palm and while exhaling release the pressure.
  • Do not press the eyeballs with the palms directly. Relax the eye muscles.
  • After relaxing for a while, gently bring your hands down.
  •  Feel the cooling sensation around the eyeballs. Do not open the eyes immediately, relax for few seconds.
 Rotational Movement of the Eyeballs (Clock-wise and Anti clock-wise) :

  • Gently close your eyes and relax for a while with normal breathing. Open the the eyes with a few blinks.
  • Gently move your eyeballs to the left, up, right, down....movements for 8-10 rounds (count mentally).
  • Rub the palms against each other to generate heat, for a cup shape of palm and gently rest the palms on the eyes.
  • Give constant pressure palming. Press constantly around the eyeballs with the palms. Focus on deep inhalation and deep exhalation.
 Anti Clock-wise Movement :

  • Gently move your eyeballs to the right, up, left, down....movements for 8-10 rounds (count mentally).
  • Rub the palms against each other to generate heat, form a cup shape of palms and gently cover the eyeballs.
  • Give constant pressure palming. Press constantly around the eyeballs with the palms. Focus on deep inhalation and deep exhalation.
  • Do not press the eyeballs with the palms directly. Relax the eye muscles.
  • After relaxing for a while, gently bring your hands down.
  • Feel the cooling sensation around the eyeballs. Do not open the eyes immediately, relax for few seconds.
