Management of Diabetes



The management of diabetes can be achieved by taking care of :
  • Diet
  • Exercise
  • Stress
  • Medicine
Diet:
Avoid food which has sugar, sweets, chocolates, bakery items which has sugar like cake, biscuits, sweet bread etc, soft drinks like pepsi, coke, ice-creams, milk shakes etc.
Eat more fiber, edible skins and peel of the fresh fruits and vegetables.

Use less salt and eat less fat specially animal fat. Avoid fried foods. Drink clear soups, thin buttermilk, unsweetened coffee, tea and unsweetened lime juice.

Eat different varieties of food everyday. Have different types of cereals, fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy foods and low fat protein foods. 
Maintain regular times for meals snacks to balance medicines and control hunger. Consult doctor regarding medicines and diet.

Exercise :

Exercise plays very important role to maintain overall health as well as controlling diabetes. Start   the  exercise duration from 15-20 minutes and gradually increase the duration to 40-50 minutes. 
 
Consult the doctor before starting exercise pattern. For a person of diabetes best exercises are brisk walking, yoga, pranayama, meditation. These activities help to maintain good blood glucose control. 

Each person should do exercises based on his or her own lifestyle, interests and physical abilities. Choose the physical activities which you enjoy. Exercises which is done with enthusiasm will help to reduce psychological stress.

Stress :
Management of stress is very important. Try to work in relaxation. Work without worrying about the results of action. Enjoy every moment of the life with positive attitude. 
 
Medicine :
Consult doctor regarding  regular schedule of tablets, meals, snacks and physical activity. Adopt physical activity patterns to suit your medical conditions, medications, diet and life style. Monitor your ideal physical fitness.
