According to yoga the knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of different organs refers to only one fifth of the mind body complex called the physical body or Annamaya Kosa that is made of physical material which can be perceived by our senses.

Subtler than the physical body is the Pranamaya Kosa, the body of vital energy or Prana. For a healthy functioning of all the cells in the Annamaya Kosa, right quantity of prana has to be supplied by Pranamaya Kosa.

The third subtler component of the human system is the mind which is called Manomaya Kosa. Mind is defined as conglomeration of thoughts. The yogis described the sequence of events in the Manomaya Kosa that the information gathered from the external world perceived by the mind through the indriyas which is stored in the memory. After this processing, we play our emotion which is the most important modification of mind.

Aspect of our thinking process is called Vijnanamaya Kosa which is the faculty of discrimination. This is the inner mind or the knowledge body. This kosa guides Manomaya Kosa to make decisions.

The fifth aspect of the personality is the bliss body or the Anandamaya Kosa. In this subtlest state of existence which master the entire mind body complex, featured by complete inner freedom, bliss, contentment and perfect health.
